ITINERARY:

Pick up at the Airport or lodge after breakfast and get ready to explore the Kingdom of Swaziland just for a day!

The Highlight of the Tour:

Stop # 1 Ezulwini Craft Market.

Have a look around in the market, this is the best place to do your craft shopping or even just look around and chat with the people running the stalls. The people might be a little bit aggressive in selling, however, there is lots of choice in what they are selling so you will always find what you like.

Stop # 2 Capital City Mbabane

Drive over to the Capital city Mbabane, tucked in the granite peaks and the valleys that make up the nearby hills of Dlangeni. This is Swaziland’s administrative capital very relaxed and unpretentious with a population of only about 60 000.

There is not a lot to see in Mbabane than the Market which is pretty small and just to walk around the city. And right after that, we will be heading out to the Ngwenya Glass.

Stop # 3 Ngwenya Glass Factories

Ngwenya Glass lies next to the border of Oshoek in the west.

Amid the mountains that encircle Africa’s tiny Kingdom is one that resembles a basking crocodile. At its summit is the world’s most ancient iron ore mine dating back 43 000 years and its food lies in the remote village of Ngwenya Village which is the siSwati word for a crocodile.

In Ngwenya Glass a young Swazi craftsman and women employ age-old glass-blowing techniques to breathe life into enchanting interpretations of Africa‘s animals, also creating a unique range of tableware and decorative art glass each piece is handmade from 100% recycled glass.

There is also lots variety of shops within the Ngwenya glass complex the guests can feel free to walk around and buy a postcard or two.

Stop #4 Malolotja Mountains

After we did our shopping from the Ngwenya we would drive along the foot of the Malolotja Mountains towards Peaks Piggs, and here we would always be stopping on the side of the road meeting and buying from the artists who are carving all types of animals with soapstone.

It is unfortunate soapstone is heavy and you will probably not be able to carry it home but you can always buy the small animals and men's and women's faces.

Stop #5 Malolotja Nature Reserve

this is our last stop here at Malolotja Nature Reserve where we are going to enjoy the most scenic landscape in Swaziland. It's spectacular flora. The extensive grassy hillsides and rocky ridges lend themselves to some excellent game viewing with backdrops unrivaled in southern Africa.

Game to be seen include Eland, Blesbok, Black Wildebeest, Mountain Reedbuck, Common Reedbuck, Grey Rhebok, Red Hartebeest, Oribi, Klipspringer, and Zebra. The rare Aardwolf and the elusive Antbear also occur in the reserve. Predators include Leopard, Serval, Caracal, and Black-backed Jackal.

Malolotjat Nature Reserves have several short walks and day trails, starting from the various viewpoints or picnic areas where we will also sit down and have a small picnic.

But we can then stretch our legs by getting out of the vehicle getting some fresh air and going for short hikes to some viewpoints.

This will mark the end of our day out in the North of Swaziland.
