Join this 1-Day walking tour through one of the oldest & most famous villages in Swaziland. You’ll start with an intro to Swazi history at the National Museum then skirt past the King’s royal residence, before exploring rural homes and interacting, with the local population along the way, small-scale unique businesses & a local art gallery.

The whole way you’ll be guided by an experienced local guide & to end off you’ll have a traditional Swazi lunch at the market. This is the best way to learn about the way Swazi people live today & it’s a fantastic cultural experience full of fun.

Lobamba village is the most famous & iconic of Swaziland’s residential villages. The Lobamba area in general is Swaziland’s cultural capital & is the home of E Ludzidzini, the King's traditional, royal residence as well as the home of the annual Reed Dance & Incwala Ceremonies – it truly is the cultural center of Swaziland.

The museum provides the perfect starting point where you will learn about the history of Swaziland from the early Stone Age to the present day. With this basis of knowledge, you begin your walking tour of the village by cutting between the traditional royal residences of the present and late Kings. Here you’ll learn how Swazi kings are chosen as well as how they live and rule.

The tour then becomes very interactive as you enter the residential part of the village. You’ll stop at a local bar where a woman brews traditional sorghum beer for the community (and you can taste the beer too!). You then have a look at some homesteads and the way of life of a modern Swazi. You’ll also get to visit a very interesting art gallery which has been started by a local artist who lives and works in Lobamba Village.

At the gallery you’ll have a look around at paintings, hear the story behind the creation of the gallery, and sometimes if you are “lucky’ you’ll get to groove to some live local music!

The tour ends at the main bus rank in the village where you’ll settle down at a local restaurant and enjoy “Shisa Nyama” (a traditional Swazi barbeque).
